Mission

Our mission is to empower young people to affect change in their community through design. By connecting young people to real world architects and planners, we want to foster the next generation of design professionals, civic leaders, and changemakers.

NOMA Utah Project Pipeline 2023

We are excited to partner with Glendale Middle School to teach an Introduction to Architecture class at a summer program for middle school students June 20th-29th 2023. Summer school will run from 8:15am-11:15am with (3) one hour sessions every day. We will guide students through all stages of design using thought provoking and fun exercises. Glendale Middle School’s demographics:

  • 95% of students qualify for free lunch

  • 67% of students identify as Hispanic

  • 19% of students identify as Asian Pacific Islander

Support Project Pipeline

Camp Curriculum (to be provided by NOMA Utah):

Tue 6/20: Introduction to architecture and spaces

Wed 6/21: Kick off design project, look at the concept "city", and learn about
representing ideas

Thu 6/22: Choose a problem for design project, learn about "neighborhood",
and drawing practice

Fri 6/23: Programming, spaces, and drawing 3D/sketching

Mon 6/26: Look at a "block" and develop site design with civil and landscape

Tue 6/27: Structural, MEP, and introduction to model building

Wed 6/28: Design development

Thu 6/29: Presentation day; path to becoming an architect
